Scout Shabbat 2013

Scout Shabbat

Scout Shabbat offers an opportunity for synagogues to honor scouts and volunteers as they recognize the value of youth scouting programs and the contribution scouts make in the Jewish Community. DJCOS promotes the celebration of Scout Shabbat on the second Friday and Saturday in February each year.

Emblems & Awards

Both Scouting America and Girl Scouts of the USA offer Jewish scouts the opportunity to earn emblems or awards that can be displayed on their uniforms. These awards are managed by the National Jewish Committee on Scouting and the National Jewish Committee on Girl Scouting. DJCOS provides support and workshop opportunities for scouts to pursue these awards.

Community Service

DJCoS works with area synagogues and other Jewish organizations to connect scouts with opportunities to serve the Jewish community. Twice each year scouts work with the Dallas Jewish War Veterans to replace worn U.S. flags on the graves of those who served in our country's military.

Our Objective

The Dallas Jewish Committee on Scouting (DJCoS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to promoting participation in scouting within the Jewish community and promoting the Jewish experience within scouting units (packs, troops, crews, etc). DJCoS is made up of volunteers from multiple scouting organizations in the Dallas Area including the Girl Scouts of North East Texas and the Circle Ten Council of Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America). We are also affiliated with the National Jewish Committee on Scouting.
